The Canton of Black Icorndall is the Media, PA chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, known as the SCA, dedicated to researching and recreating many aspects of medieval life and times.
Our name means “The Valley of the Black Squirrel”, named after a species indigenous to this region of the United States. We are part of the Barony of Bhakail (which covers the greater Philadelphia area) which in turn is part of the East Kingdom in the SCA. Whether you’re looking to see what medieval dance is like, try your hand at illumination or calligraphy, don armor and fight or fence, let loose some arrows at a range or see the differences and similarities in medieval cooking, we hope you choose to spend some time with us. All of our gatherings are open to all who are interested, and all of our recurring activities are without cost or reservation required. Events where we put on garb are larger affairs, and those generally have a fee associated with them, but it is usually a modest one.
If you are unsure whether a particular gathering might be better suited for newcomers, please feel free to contact our Chatelaine (the group’s newcomer liasion).
